In my previous entry on Installing Dell OpenManage Server Administrator on VMware ESXi 4.1, I described the steps to install OMSA on VMware ESXi 4.1. Today I tried to do the same thing for 2 new ESXi 4.1 hosts but found out that there was no UserVars.CIMoemProviderEnabled after the installation and rebooted the 2 hosts.
After some comparisons, it turned out that the 2 new hosts have a older build of ESXi 4.1 installed. The build number is 260247.

The build version that is working for me is ESXi 4.1.0 381591. This should be the build with Update 1.

So I went ahead and did an update for both the hosts using the update manager to ESXi 4.1.0 433742.

After the update and the hosts rebooted, I am able to see the missing UserVars.CIMoemProviderEnabled and continue with the setup.
