After waiting for several months, Android Gingerbread upgrade for Samsung Galaxy Tab is finally available in Singapore. I upgraded my Galaxy Tab last week and it was fairly easy via Samsung Kies. The Samsung Kies can be downloaded from the Samsung site.
Connect your Galaxy Tab to the PC running Samsung Kies. Once connected, the latest firmware will be detected.
Click on the Update button to start the upgrade. Samsung Kies will start to download the new firmware. Make sure you do not disconnect the data cable as warned.
Once the upgrade has completed successfully, you will receive the following message and your Galaxy Tab will reboot.
You can go to the About device to verify the version. As shown here, the firmware version is 2.3.3 and the build number is GINGERBREAD.DXJPC. You will probably also notice the subtle difference in the battery icon as shown below.
Have been using the new upgrade for over a week, I do not find any significant difference though.
